Hello, hello!
Nice to meet you.
My name is Carly. I like whimsy and practicality. This is my Disney blog. The Ear Collector refers my collection of festive be-eared headwear, not actual ears (this is not that kind of blog).
I took my first trip to Disney World as a 28-year-old woman. I know, right?! And… I hated it. It was hot, crowded, exhausting, and overwhelming. I couldn’t figure out what on earth people were on about. But I learned.
Though Disney World is indeed full of magic, potentially awesome experiences, and has literally something for everyone, it does take a fair degree of planning to avoid overwhelm, manage expectations, and honor your priorities. There is so much to know, and it’s hard to know where to start.
Don’t worry: I’m here to help. I got you!
Things you won’t find here: Click bait (ugh). Rumors. Undisclosed partnerships or sponsorships. Absurdly stressful touring plans. A one-plan-fits-all mentality. Anything that puts keeping a schedule and checking off the boxes over having a delightful experience. Bad design (because why).
What you will find: No bullshit. Realistic hints and tips. Honest experiences. Thorough information to enable you to make the decisions that best fit you and your travel group.
If you like planning but not micromanaging, and if you value quality over quantity, welcome to your perfect place.
About me as a human: I live in Orlando, Florida with my husband and our two wild, beloved dogs. We moved to the City Beautiful in late 2015. My day career: planning meetings and events. Loves: animals, celebrating the little things, and connecting with community. Superpowers: diplomacy, empathy, and attention to detail. My Fascinate type is The Architect (Prestige & Mystique). Also: INFP-A with a lot of J tendencies (a big-dreaming idealist, basically).
Can’t wait to get to know you!
